I want to question why we are where we are, and how we got there. In this work I explore portals determined by projections throughout the human experience. A choice and resulting pathway is created by a developed formula representing an odd number of four-sided portals connected by it’s corresponding projection. The depth of field is determined by the perception of the viewer and often changes over time, just as clarity and opacity in life often change. Depending on the expression, there is possibility for disconnect between portal and projection. I have set out to visually represent these followings or retractions via the “portal”. The element of time, choice and the resulting energy are
foundational in “portal & projection”. My hypothesis of why we are where we are , and how we got there is founded in what comforts us. The idea of comfort founded in family, occupation and environment. However, there are times of disconnect or emptiness between each projection and portal. A portal and projection do not necessarily have to be connected to create a human experience. In fact a gap, or bridge of “emptiness” is the moment of an enlightened idea or isolated thought. Often a new type of energy is created from this “nothingness”.
When we project an idea or emotion into our environment we are left with a portal to either follow or retract from. There is little derivation in the sense of energy. Sometimes portals from other times are left in a bridge of “nothingness” that creates an entirely new form of energy or pattern in thinking.
